Message from Head of the Department's Desk,
Welcome to the Department of Polymer Science & Technology at Rashbehari Siksha Prangan (popularly known as Rajabazar Science College Campus) , Kolkata. The department is located in a sprawling environment with a state of art facilities and highly qualified faculty. The department works with the objective of addressing critical challenges faced by the Industry, society and the academia. Perhaps even more important is our unceasing commitment to our students, helping them to learn, grow, develop, and achieve their goals in their pursuit to excel in their professional career.
Department of Polymer Science & Technology is the oldest institution engaged in the studies of polymer science & technology in India. The department offers 4 years B.Tech., 2 Years M.Tech. and Ph.D. degree in Polymer Science & Technology. Our primary objective is to provide a well-rounded engineering education that prepares our students to be employable professionals. The curriculum provides a sound foundation in basic sciences, engineering disciplines and communication skills which result the employments in most reputed companies like Reliance Industries Ltd. (RIL), CEAT Tyre, Birla Tyre, SABIC (early known as GE Plastics), AkzoNobel, Asian Paints, Berger Paints, Haldia Petrochemicals Ltd (HPL) etc. and higher studies in IIT's and abroard also.
The Alumni of this department, being current faculty members also, are well-versed with the aspirations and needs of the students which results in developing a strong Alumni network.

FOUNDER
The Department of Applied Chemistry was established in the year of 1922 and started offering three-year B. Tech. degree in "Plastics and Rubber Technology" from 1968. The Department of Applied Chemistry was divided into three separate departments, i.e. Department of Chemical Engineering, Department of Chemical Technology and Department of Plastics and Rubber Technology in 1982. The name of the department was changed to Department of Polymer Science and Technology in the year 1997.
